John Keells Foundation forms Youth Clubs in the Neighbourhood Schools

John Keells Foundation launched a new initiative of forming youth clubs within the six neighbourhood schools. The objective of this initiative is to develop a platform for students to interact and develop interpersonal skills including leadership and team work skills, thereby improving the quality and quantity of youth action.

Introductory sessions were conducted in 5 schools namely Al Iqbal Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 02, Holy Rosary Tamil Vidyalaya, Colombo 02, Siri Sariputta Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 02, St. Mary’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 03 and T.B.Jayah Zahira College, Colombo 02 and club membership was opened to students from Grades 6 to 10.

The Youth Club will meet on the first Wednesday of every month where they will discuss their plans to develop their school infrastructure and better social integration within their schools. The attendance of the club members will be recorded in the club register which will serve as the monitoring process of the functioning of the Youth Club. On successful implementation of the innovative ideas, the “Best Office Bearer” and the “Highest Performer” will be awarded for the members of the Youth Clubs in their respective schools.
